Dr. Gary J. Bridges, 73, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2020.
He was born Feb. 2, 1946 in Oak Ridge TN the son of Jasper and Margie Ann Lawson Bridges.
Gary grew up in an Army family moving from Oak Ridge, TN to Michigan City, MI and points beyond. Upon the retirement of his father from the Army, they landed in Berkley, MO where Gary enlisted in the Navy and began his 26 year service to his country as a submariner. After his active duty in the Navy, he attended Logan Chiropractic School and opened several offices. He made his home in Cape Girardeau where he still practiced. Dr. Bridges was a steadfast supporter of the American Legion and the VFW. He was also an active volunteer for the air shows at the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport. He was an active member of Cape First.
Loving survivors include a son Todd (Debbie) Bridges of St. Louis, two daughters Amy (Mike) Spurger of Alba, TX and Christina (Daniel) Puckett of Jackson, two brothers, Ron (Lette) Bridges and Paul (Debbie) Bridges and eight grand-children .
In addition to his parents he was preceded by a sister Barbara Ann.
Friends may call Monday from 9 am to service time at the McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will be Monday at 11 am at the funeral home with the Rev Mark Graham officiating.
Interment will follow in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery with graveside military honors.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Legion or the VFW.
