Frederick L. Higdon

Frederick "Fred" L. Higdon, age 70 of New Hamburg, Missouri passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born September 10, 1953 in Lilbourn, Missouri to the late Horace and Daisy Hickman Higdon. He and his best friend Tina Heisserer were married on March 4, 1998 in Benton, Missouri.

Fred was a graduate of SEMO State University and worked for 33 years in finance at Farm Credit, Boatmen's and Mercantile Banks in Cape Girardeau. For 40 years he was an auctioneer with Chug's Auction Service in Jackson. He and Tina owned and operated Hill Top Creations at New Hamburg. He recently was associated with Jackson Deli. He was a past president of SEMO District Fair Association; Missouri Association of Fairs and Festivals and was president and Paul Harris Fellow of the Cape County Rotary Club.

He loved camping life and the camp family he was a part of on Castor River. His wit was quick and his jokes were bad but he could always put a smile on your face.

He is survived by his wife, Tina; a daughter, Joy (Dean) Livesay; a grandson and granddaughter Hayden and Skye Livesay of Cape Girardeau; a son, Jacob Reinagel of Kelso, a brother; William "Dub" Higdon of Sikeston, and mother and father-in-law Elmer and Sue Heisserer of New Hamburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Elizabeth (James) Brewer of Benton; Peggy (Luke) Boyette of Florida.

A celebration of life will be held at later date.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Research Hospital.
