Gerald W. Hitt

Gerald W. Hitt, 75, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Chateau Girardeau.

Gerald was born October 10, 1947, in Jackson, son of the late Wesley and Emma Wendel Hitt. He and Donna Williams were married on July 5, 1969, in Gordonville. Donna preceded him in death March 27, 2018. Their union blessed them with two children, Russ (Kasey) Hitt and Kelly (Matt) McCurry, both of Mount Juliet, TN.

Gerald was inducted into the United States Navy November 19, 1969, and was honorably discharged February 18, 1972. During his time in the Navy, he served with the Seabees.

Gerald was a 1969 graduate of the former University of Rolla, graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering. He worked for Penzel Construction from 1969 until retiring in 2005.

He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville.

In addition to their loving children, Gerald is survived by three grandchildren, Collin McCurry, and Lainey and Alex Hitt all of Mount Juliet, TN.
In addition to his wife and parents, Gerald is preceded in death by a brother, Gene Hitt.

Visitation will be Friday, March 17, 2023, from 11 AM - 1 PM at Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville.
Funeral service will be Friday, March 17, 2023 at 1 PM at the church, with the Rev. Scott Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville.
