Gerald Wayne “Jerry” Lucas, 69, of Burfordville, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020, at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 28, 1951, in St. Louis to Nicholas and Eva Abercrombie Lucas. He married Jackie “Sue” Aufdenberg and she preceded him in death in 1991. Jerry married Patsy Locke Dec. 24, 1998.
Jerry was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was inducted into the United States Army Sept. 19, 1968. He was honorably discharged Sept. 17, 1971, at the rank of sergaent. He worked as a mechanic at the former Bangert Ford Implement dealership in Jackson and later worked as a mechanic for the city of Cape Girardeau, retiring in 2011. Jerry was a member of Millersville Baptist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Patsy; two children, Chad (Stacy) Lucas of Marble Hill, Missouri and Tasha (Scott) Williams of Hendersonville, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Shayden, Destinee, and Cameron Williams; seven siblings, Paul Divinny of St. Louis, Mary Lucas of Cape Girardeau, Susie Lucas-McCain of Perryville, Missouri, Carol Lucas and Mike Lucas, both of Jackson, Tammy Lucas and Todd Lucas, both of Cape Girardeau.
In addition to his first wife, Jackie, he was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, John Divinny and Linda Lucas.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jason Grubbs officiating. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield, Missouri, with full military honors.
