Jarilyn “”Jari” Sue Southard, age 72, of Jackson passed away Monday, November 30, 2020 at her home.
She was born June 15, 1948 in New York, the daughter Charles Baker and Janet McDougal Otis Baker Piepenbrok. She and Elmer “Jay” Southard married January 29, 1972.S
She graduated from the Sandy Creek Central High School in Sandy Creek, NY. She then graduated from the School of Practical Nursing in Oswego, New York and received her license for nursing from the State of New York in 1968.
Jari was a member of the Jackson Trail Riders Association in Jackson. She also worked as an LPN in the office of Dr. Eugene McDonald in Jackson, Dr. Kent Griffith in Cape Girardeau, the Veteran’s Home, Cape County Health Office, and Southeast Missouri Hospital.
Jari had a love for animals, especially horses and dogs.
Loving survivors include her husband of 48 years, Jay; a son and daughter-in-law, Josh and Carla Southard of Jackson; three grandsons, Rex (Alicia) O’Connell, Ethan (Jillian) O’Connell and Dawson Southard; four great grandchildren, Chandler, Jace, Emmy, and Lincoln; Jari was looking forward to the birth of her fifth great grandchild.
Also surviving is a brother, Brad (Paulette) Baker of Mount Juliet, Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
There will be a private family service held at a later date.
Memorials may be made in her memory to the Southeast Missouri Humane Society of Cape Girardeau or to the church or charity of donor’s choice.
