Jim Monteith Obituary

Gary J. “Jim” Monteith, Jr., 56, of Jackon, passed away Saturday, November 28, 2020, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born December 11, 1963, in San Diego, California, the oldest child of Gary and Carolyn Robison Monteith, Sr.  He and Kim Boyd were married January 1, 1994, in Millersville, Missouri.

Jim was raised near Burfordville and was proud to have worked on the Bollinger Mill Restoration Project.  He was a 1982 graduate of Jackson High School.  He honorably served eight years in the U.S. Navy.   In 2002, he graduated from SEMO with a degree in computer science.

Jim enjoyed his longtime I.T. job at Translectric in Jackson.

Jim was a longtime, actve member of Cape First Church.  He was faithful in worshiping the Lord, and will be remembered as a a gentle giant, a mentor, and an intercessorary prayer warrior.

Loving survivors include his wife of nearly 27 years, Kim Monteith of Jackson; a son, Jacob (Megan) Monteith and children Haven and Asher of Cape Girardeau; his parents, Gary and Carolyn Monteith of Burfordville; two siblings, Kerri (Larry) Wagner of Burfordville, and Scott Monteith of St. Louis; two nephews, Austin (Macy) Doyal and son Marshall of Cape Girardeau, and Joshua Doyal of Burdfordville; and his father-in-law, Jerry (Pam) Boyd of Patton.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cecil and Henrietta Monteith and Dale and Mary Robison; and his mother-in-law, Sheila Boyd.

Visitation is from 3 p.m. to service time, Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at Cape First Church, 254 Silver Springs Road in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral is at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at the church, with the Rev. Gary Brothers officiating.

Graveside committal and military honors will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 3, 2020, at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
