John William Burns, 57, of Chaffee passed away Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born December 5, 1963, in Cape Girardeau, son of Carson and Betty Pulliam Burns.
John was a graduate of Jackson High School Class of 1983. He worked nearly 38 years for Lee-Rowan in Jackson. John loved to deer hunt and share his deer hunting stories with his family and friends. He loved animals, especially dogs. That is how his loyal canine friend, Runaway came to be. John loved spending time visiting with his mother on her front porch. John always had a big smile to greet both family and friends, followed by a big hug with "how have you been". John was kind hearted and always there to help anyone in need.
Loving survivors include his sons, Chad (Kelsey) Burns of Marion, Il and Justin (Dakota) Burns and their children, Lincoln and Landon of Cape Girardeau, his mother, Betty Burns of Jackson, four sisters, Brenda Pender, and Linda (Kevin) Crader, both of Jackson, Debby (Curtis) Lorenz of Pocahontas, Terri Moore (Brian Alworth) of Cape Girardeau, five nieces, Erica (Michael) Graff, Lori Quade, Nikki Hodges, Carly (fiancé` Keith Huckabay) Lorenz, and Sydney Rapp, a fiancé, Lisa Enderle of Scott City, and his special canine friend, Runaway.
He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers-in-law, Gary Pender and Jeff Moore, a niece, Vanessa Lorenz, and a nephew, Michael Borgfield.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 5:00 pm until service time at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
Memorial service will follow at 7:00 pm, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating.
Private interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Human society of Southeast Missouri.
An invitation is extended to family and friends to attend the services in honor of John. However, the family has requested that everyone is to wear a mask, refrain from handshaking and hugs, and practice social distancing for the safety of all in attendance.
