Chief Petty Officer Larry “Chief” Richard Reuther, Retired, of Marble Hill, Missouri, passed away Monday, June 22, 2020 at the age of 80 at his home.
He was born April 26, 1940, in Astoria, Oregon, son of Paul and Edith Reuther. He and Sharron Davis were married in 1972.
Larry served in the U.S. Coast Guard for over 20 years, stationed in Alaska, Michigan, California, Antarctica, Oregon, and finally St. Louis, Missouri. After retiring from the USCG, he joined the U.S. Postal Service in St. Louis, where he worked for the next 15 years until finally, and deservedly, retiring in 2003.
In addition to his wife, Sharron Reuther, of Marble Hill, loving survivors include four children, Lisa Nance of Blessing, Texas, Larry Johnson of Port Lavaca, Texas, Jeanna Lee York of Cambridge, England and Jennifer Reuther of Citrus Heights, California; sister, Paula Lindsey of Vancouver, Washington; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Ronnie Reuther.
The family would like to especially thank the staff and hospice team at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau for making Larry as comfortable as possible in his final days.
Services will be held at later date due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
