Marjorie E. Hoehne, 91, of Jackson, passed away Monday, March 2, 2020, at the Monticello House in Jackson.
She was born December 30, 1928, in Tilsit, Missouri, to Robert L. and Martina Peetz Fluegge. She was baptized, confirmed, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit and also attended the church’s former grade school. She was a 1948 graduate of Jackson High School and then obtained a teaching certificate from the former Southeast Teacher’s College.
Marjorie was an elementary teacher at the Lutheran schools in Altenburg, Friedheim, and Shawneetown. She made her church home at Trinity Lutheran Church in Shawneetown, where she was active in the Ladies Aid, quilted, and enjoyed making apple butter.
Marjorie and Wilhelm “Bill” Wachter were married May 24, 1952. Bill’s employment in road construction often kept him away from home, so Marjorie sometimes traveled with him. Her skill as a seamstress made it easy for her to find work in the communities where they made their temporary homes. They had been married 26 years when Bill passed away November 11, 1978.
On June 20, 1981, Marjorie married Curt “Pat” Hoehne. Together, they enjoyed traveling, fishing, dancing, and playing cards with friends. They had been married 22 years when Pat passed away December 3, 2003.
Loving survivors include two brothers, Milford (the late Judy) Fluegge of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Millersville; Orville (Loretta) Fluegge of Jackson; two sisters-in-law, Betty (the late Charles) Fluegge of Gordonville and Darlene (the late Byron) Fluegge of Jackson; many nieces and nephews; and two step-daughters, Melanie Gimpel of South Carolina and Rebecca Anderson of Washington.
She was preceded in death by two spouses; her parents; and three siblings, Evelyn (Gene) Moore, Charles Fluegge, and Byron Fluegge; a former brother in-law, Charles Ulrich; and two former sisters-in-law, Millie Fluegge and Carolyn Myer.
Visitation is from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2020, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and from 9:30 a.m. to service time, Thursday, March 5, 2020, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Shawneetown
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 5, 2020, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Shawneetown, with the Rev. Virgil Kelm officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
