Mark Dumey Obituary

Mark S. Dumey, 63, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, October 10, 2021, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born August 31, 1958, in Cape Girardeau, to Ralph L. and Winifred “Winnie” Summers Dumey.  He and Laura Stearns were married September 26, 1981, at New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson. Two children were born to their union, Lindsey and Tyler.

Mark was a 1976 graduate of Jackson High School, lettering in football, basketball, and baseball.  He was a 1981 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, receiving a bachelor’s degree in computer science.

After their marriage, Mark and Laura resided briefly in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where Mark was employed at Phillips Petroleum.  In 1984, they returned to Jackson and Mark became employed for Drury Hotels in Cape Girardeau, serving as the manager of corporate applications.

Mark was a lifelong member of New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson and a longtime member of the Jackson Tribal Council.  He was instrumental in coaching and developing youth sports in Jackson.
