Mary Ann Terry, age 86, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Jackson, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Miner Nursing home in Miner, Missouri.
She was born March 7, 1934, in Cape Girardeau, to Otto and Corena Schott Seyer. She and George Terry were married November 6, 1954 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Cape Girardeau. Seven children were born to their union, and they had been married nearly 29 years when George passed away September 21, 1983.
Mary Ann worked at the old Saint Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau, the former Eli Walker in Scott City, Missouri, and the former Florsheim Shoe Factory in Cape Girardeau. When she and George started their family, Mary dedicated herself to homemaking, farming, and selling Mary-Kay. For 25 years, she owned and operated the former Mary’s Quilt shop in Fruitland, retiring in 2013. Shortly thereafter, she moved to Capetown in Cape Girardeau.
Mary was a 4-H leader, member of Immaculate Conception Church in Jackson for over 60 years, and a member of St. Ann’s Sodality.
Loving survivors include six children: Jerris Ann Bryant of Tybee Island, Georgia; Gregory (Connie) Terry of Grassy, Missouri; Mark (Tina) Terry of Oak Ridge; Angela Brune of Jackson; and David (Donna) Terry of Jackson; seventeen grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; seven siblings: Eugene (Norma) Seyer of New Hamburg, Missouri; Virginia (the late Tom) Ross of Benton, Missouri; Jane (the late Don) Bilodeau of Hillsboro, Missouri; Janet (Sam) Jarrell of Cape Girardeau; Nancy (Mike) Amelunke of Columbia, Missouri; Dorothy Seyer of Cape Girardeau; and Linda (Rodney) Lipe of Cape Girardeau; and two sisters-in-law, Barbara (the late Cornelius) Seyer of Cape Girardeau, and Brenda (the late Jerome) Seyer of Cape Girardeau; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son, Christopher Terry, a daughter, Darlene Petzoldt, and four siblings, Cornelius Seyer; Charles Seyer, Jerome Seyer, and LaWanda (Mike) Turnbough.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2020 at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2020, at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Harth officiating. Interment will follow at McLain Chapel Cemetery near Oriole, Missouri.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson.
