McRichard “Bud” Burford, 80, of Burfordville, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021, in Marble Hill, Missouri.
He was born February 22, 1940, in Cape Girardeau, to Paul A. and Edna E. McDaniel Burford. He and Judy Meyr were married September 25, 1965, in Jackson.
Bud attended Gravel Hill Grade School and was a 1957 graduate of Jackson High School. He honorably served in the U.S. Army from January 18, 1962 to January 17, 1964 and subsequently in the U.S. Army Reserve until December 31, 1967.
Bud enjoyed raising cattle on the family farm west of Burfordville. He worked in construction for R.B. Potashnick’s Cape Construction Company, later purchased by Kansas Nebraska Pipeline, then M. K. River Pipeline Construction, and later returning to R. B. Potashinck, retiring in late 1990’s and transitioning into full-time farming.
His memberships included St. Paul Lutheran Church, Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158, and the Elks, all in Jackson.
Loving survivors include his wife of 55 years, Judy of Burfordville; two children, Tom (Brenda) Burford of Burfordville and Lori (Joey) Johnson of Jackson; two grandchildren, Sloane and Tallis Johnson of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jim Burford.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday, February 8, 2021, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Face masks are encouraged and appreciated.
The funeral is at 1 p.m., Monday, February 8, 2021, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joshua Schmidt officiating.
Burial is private.
