Michael John Chandonait

Michael John Chandonait, age 70, of Jackson, and formerly of Marion passed away Friday, March 1, 2019 at home.

He was born November 7, 1948 in Newton, MA to Henry John and Barbara Virginia Hayden Chandonait.  Michael married Eleanor Parsons August 22, 1976. 

Michael was a 1966 graduate of Lincoln Sudbury High School in Sudbury, MA. In 1968 entered the United States Army serving in Germany and in 1970 was honorably discharged at the rank of Sargent. Michael and Eleanor moved to Marion, Illinois in 1976 and have resided in Jackson since 2013. He enjoyed listening to opera music and playing golf at Crab Orchard Golf Course as much as possible. Michael accepted Christ as his personal savior in 2001 while a member of Pittsburg Free Will Baptist Church in Pittsburg, Illinois. He was currently attending Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.

Loving survivors include his wife Eleanor of 42 years; two daughters,  Heather (Mark) Mayhew and Catherine (Marcus) Francis all of Jackson; one son Christopher (Patty) Chandonait of Dighton, MA;  eight grandchildren, Mason John, Marlee, Maksim, and Maeryn Mayhew, Genevieve, Skylar and Samara Francis, Jonathan Chandonait.

Also surviving are four siblings, Peter (Christy) Chandonait of Annapolis, MD, Cindy (Verell) Boaen of Groton, MA, Ann (Ed) Celino of Nashua, NH and Adrienne (Mike) McCarthy of Billerica, MA.

He/She was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial visitation will be from 2 pm until service time Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.

The celebration of life service will begin at 3 pm with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Lynwood Baptist Church.
