Nell Kieninger passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born December 24, 1925 at Arnsberg, Missouri to Ben and Edna Moore Kayser. She and Clarence Kieninger were married September 27, 1942 in Franklin, Kentucky. They had been married 70 years when he passed away March 13, 2013.
Nell was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Longtown, Missouri. She graduated from Arnsberg Elementary school and attended Perryville Public High School. She received her G.E.D. from Kiswaukee Community College in Malta, Illinois in 1968.
Nell worked for the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company, A&P Grocery Store for 25 years followed by 14 years with Pest Free in a part
time associate role. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas, Missouri.
Nell was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking, visiting with friends and neighbors, doing volunteer work and traveling with her husband. Nell was never afraid to consider and try new ideas for her family and community and successfully accomplished many things. Nell was most happy surrounded by her loving family.
Loving survivors include two sons; Douglas (Jane) Kieninger and Charles “Bud” (Katrina) Kieninger, a daughter Torrey (Jim) Clark; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are three-sister-laws Lavera Barlow, Rose Kayser and Verna Kieninger.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 10-11AM on Monday, March 4, 2019 at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The memorial service will be at 11AM at the funeral home with Rev. Virgil Kelm officiating.
The family suggests contributions be made to Zion Lutheran Cemetery Fund at Pocahontas or charity of your choice.
