Norman H. Campbell, 86, of Oak Ridge passed away Sunday, January 12, 2020, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born April 27, 1933, in Cape Girardeau, to Herbert Campbell and Ruby Singleton Campbell Humes. Norman attended the former Kage Elementary School in Cape Girardeau. He and Anna Kirn were married May 7, 1960, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson.
Norman was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving honorably from August 20, 1951 to August 19, 1959. In addition to farming near Oak Ridge, he drove an LP gas truck many years for Rhodes, Empire Gas, and Uregas. In his spare time, he enjoyed mechanic work and socializing at the Millersville Feed Store.
Loving survivors include his wife of nearly 60 years, Anna Campbell of Oak Ridge; five children, Jeff (the late Michele) Campbell of Millersville, Debbie (Dennis) Way of Jackson; Derek (Yvonne) Campbell of Kelso, Missouri; Laura (Brad) Hopkins of Millersville; and Karen (Russell) Marks of Jackson; 15 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; two brothers Joe (Mary) Campbell of Marshall, Missouri and Larry Campbell of Cape Girardeau.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Rosemary Criddle and Pauline Flynn; and a daughter-in-law, Michele Kincy Campbell and his step-father Lynn “Bud” Humes.
The visitation will be Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 9-11 am at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
Rev. Russell Marks, Norman’s son-in-law, will officiate the funeral service at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson with graveside military rites.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
