Olin Rush Obituary

Olin Ray Rush, 76, of Marble Hill, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2020 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born August 2, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois, son of Elvis and Ida Thorton Rush.  He and Hazel Williamson were married August 9, 1962; she survives.

Olin was a graduate of Bernie High School in Bernie, Missouri.  On May 29, 1962 he enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged on May 28, 1965. He owned and operated Oak Ridge Tool and Die Shop and also worked at Lone Star as an electrician for 29 years, retiring in 2007.

He was a member of Fruitland Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon and taught Sunday school. Olin enjoyed mission work in Costa Rica through the church.  He also loved woodworking in his shop, traveling and camping but one of his favorite things was to cheer on the Jackson Indian Football team.

Loving survivors include his wife Hazel of over 58 years of marriage, four children Sherry (Mitch) Delph, Stan (Malissa) Rush, Donna (Robert) Rollet and Mike (Julie) Rush all of Jackson.

Also surviving are nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren; two brothers Elwood Rush of Bernie and Ira (Sylvia) Rush of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Mary Warren.

Visitation will be from 10:30 AM until service time Monday, September 21, 2020 at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral service will be at 12:30 PM Monday, September 21, 2020 with Mark Shelton officiating.

Interment will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.

The family suggests that contributions be made to Children’s Home Inc., 5515 Walcott Rd, Paragould, AR 72450.
