Patsy Ann (Stearns) Wendel

Patsy Ann Wendel, 73, of Jackson, passed away Friday, March 10, 2023, at her home in Jackson.

She was born October 17, 1949, in Cape Girardeau, to Ova Ray and Nellie Hobeck Stearns.

Patsy was a 1968 graduate of Jackson High School. She was employed at Thorngate, Havco, and Country Mart, but is best remembered for her skill as a waitress at the former Rainbow Grill and Jer's in uptown Jackson.

Patsy was a member of New Salem United Methodist Church in Daisy.

Loving survivors include three children, Angie Scott, Christopher and Darrin Wendel, all of Jackson; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two siblings, Linda (Jerry) Morton of Jackson; Mary (the late Bud) James of Patton, Missouri; brothers-in-law: John (the late Sue) Clippard of Millersville; Charles (the late Peg) Newell of Jackson; sisters-in-law: Minnie (the late Virgil) Stearns of Jackson, Georgia (the late Robert) Stearns of Jackson, and Brenda (the late Richard) Stearns; her former husband, Jerry Lee Wendel of Sedgewickville; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by seven siblings: Virgil Stearns; Fred (Rosemary) Stearns; Robert "Bob" Stearns; Richard Stearns; Sue Clippard; Earlene (Clarence) Langston; and Carma "Peg" Newell; and her parents.

Visitation is from 3 pm until service time, Thursday, March 16, 2023, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral service is at 5 pm at the funeral home, with Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating. 

Inurnment is private at New Salem Cemetery in Daisy.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association.
