Robert “Neil” Dougan, 75, of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
The youngest of six children, Neil was born April 30, 1945, in St. Louis, to Forrest and Lorraine Willis Dougan.
Neil was a 1963 graduate of Cape Central High School. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps from Aug. 12, 1966 to Aug. 9, 1968.
He and Alberta Macke were married July 17, 1971. Neil was a journeyman for a UA Local 562 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union.
After retirement, he enjoyed volunteering at the Cape County History Center, the Humane Society, and Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary. He was active in the Alzheimer’s Association, the Marine Corps League and the Vietnam Veterans Association.
Loving survivors include his wife of nearly 50 years, Alberta Dougan of Jackson; four siblings, David (Vennie) Dougan of Florida, Sallie (the late Charles) Rendleman of Advance, Missouri, Mona (the late Robert) Smith of Scott City, Beverly (Dennis) Clark of Cape Girardeau; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy (the late Charles) Ramsey of Jackson and Bonnie (the late Weldon) Macke of Gordonville; several nieces, nephews, and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Sidney (Rosemary) Dougan.
A memorial visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to service time, Saturday, May 1, 2021, at Zion United Methodist Church, west of Gordonville. The Rev. Scott Griffin will officiate a memorial service at 11 a.m., followed by military rites and interment in the church cemetery.
