Ray Clinton Green, age 86, of Crump, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at his home with family at his side.
He was born July 2, 1932 in Cape Girardeau County, son of Herbert and Alta Chapman Green.
He and Emma Jean Williams married August 27, 1955 at Hahn’s Chapel in Marble Hill.
Ray had grown up during his early years near the Crump community and at the age of 13 the family moved to Daisy. He enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany until he was honorably discharged. Ray and Jean owned and operated the Green’s General Store at Crump for 18 years. He also farmed growing crops and raising livestock. They ran the Green’s Auction in Crump and would also sell items at the Sikeston Tradewinds Flea Market.
Loving survivors include his wife Jean of over 63 years; four children, Terry (Susan) Green, Rick (Dorothy) Green, Connie (Steve) Rich all of Whitewater, and Mary (Dan) Tankersley of Gordonville; 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, Lloyd Donald (Marge) Green of Park City, KY, and Jerry (Martha) Green of Sedgewickville; and a brother-in-law, Don Darnell of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Goldie Darnell and a brother, Gilbert (Nelda) Green.
Visitation will be from 4:00pm until service time Monday, May 13, 2019 at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
Funeral service will be Monday, May 13, 2019 at 7:00pm, at the funeral home, with his grandson Rev. Andrew Green officiating.
Burial will be Tuesday May 14, 2019 at 10:30am at Proffer Cemetery in Crump.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Proffer Cemetery or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
