Ruth L. Brugger, 99, of Jackson, passed away Friday, January 14, 2022, at the Jackson Manor Nursing Home.
She was born June 30, 1922, in Jackson, to Fred and Francis Milde Koch. She and Clarence Brugger were married June 18, 1950. They had been married nearly 37 years when Clarence passed away May 12, 1987.
Ruth was a graduate of Jackson High School. She worked many years in the medical practice of Dr. Albert Estes and retired from the practice of Dr. Schoenberger.
Ruth was a lifelong member of Emanuel United Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Bethany Circle.
To cherish her memory, she leaves nieces and nephews: Danny (Rose) Koch; Linda (the late Frank) Monroe; David (Teresa) Koch; Dennis (the late Patricia “Kiki”) Koch; Michelle Koch, wife of the late Doug Koch; Amy Koch Moore; Chris (Susan) Koch; and Chuck (Cynda) Koch; Kathryn Panagos; Jerry (the late Sue) Schremp; Dorothy (Sylvester) Layton; Martha (Michael) Smith; Mary (Greg) Ellis; Margaret Brugger; Marian Brugger, wife of the late Roy Brugger; Ben (Rita) Brugger; and countless great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, and their son, John Brugger; two siblings, Kenneth (Betty) Koch and Maxine (Ernest) Nolte; a stillborn brother, Joseph Koch; nieces and nephews, Debbie Koch; Doug Koch; Donald Koch; Donald Schremp; Kenneth Schremp; LaDonna Fay Brown; and Caroline Brown.
Visitation is from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Emanuel United Church of Christ, 304 E Adams Street, in Jackson. The Rev. Sam Roethemeyer will conduct the funeral at 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the church. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Emanuel United Church of Christ or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, both in Jackson.
