Ruth Ann Maevers, age 84, of Jackson passed away Monday, April 15, 2024, at The Lutheran Home. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff of the Villas of Jackson and the Lutheran Home for the compassionate care extended to Ruth.
She was born September 27, 1939, in Sedgewickville, Missouri, daughter of Rusby and Gladys (Seabaugh) Hartle. She and Lester A. Maevers were married January 12, 1958, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson. They were blessed with three sons who left a legacy of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ruth Ann attended school in Sedgewickville, until her family moved to Jackson during her sophomore year. She graduated from Jackson High School in 1957. While in high school, she worked at Rozier's Department Store in Jackson. Later, she worked in the Cape Girardeau County Recorder's Office in Jackson.
Ruth Ann and Lester were active members of St. Paul Lutheran Church and several community organizations. They enjoyed traveling and raising their family.
Loving survivors include her three sons, Tim (Lori) Maevers of Jackson, Jim (Deb) Maevers of Cape Girardeau, and Kenny (Jane) Maevers of Sedgewickville; eight grandchildren, Kyleigh (Anthony) Baliva, Landon (Jessica) Maevers, Trey (Catherine) Maevers, Hailey (John) Bradley, A.J (Heather) Maevers, Shayna (Steve) Strubble, Kim (Nick) Wayland, Maevers, and Nick (Karen) Dequaine.
Also surviving are 15 great-grandchildren: Vincent and Michael Baliva, Logan and Maddie Maevers, Collin and Caleb Hitt, Liam and Everett Maevers, Ellie, Maggie, and Caroline Bradley, Emily Maevers, Felicity Maevers, Millie Struble, Evelyn Struble, and another great-grandchild expected in October; four step-greatgrandchildren, Audrey and Gavin Dequaine, and Lizzy and Diesel Wayland.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers-in-law, Norman (Lou) Maevers and Arlen (Mary Ann) Maevers; and two sisters-in-law, Mildred (Glen) Lohman and Jerlene (Wib) Hutteger
A memorial visitation will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 16, 2024, and from 9:30 a.m. to service time, Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The Rev. Joshua Schmidt will conduct a memorial service at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at the funeral home. Inurnment is private at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
The family suggests that contributions be made to the Jackson Senior Center or St. Paul Lutheran Church.
