Sherri Lynn Spooler Pourney, 65, of Jackson, passed away Friday, September 25, 2020, at her home.
Born March 31, 1955, in Cape Girardeau, to Lester “Bud” and Anna Beussink Spooler, she was the second of five children. She married Terry Pourney and twin sons were born to their union, Jason and Jarad.
Sherri was a 1973 graduate of Jackson High School. She attended Southeast Missouri State University and Metro Business College, graduating as a medical specialist in 2007. Her expertise was phlebotomy.
For several years, Sherri was employed in restaurant management, 11 years with Long John Silver’s in Cape Girardeau and seven years with Burger King in Jackson. Then she worked over 12 years as a lead person and production worker for Rubbermaid in Jackson. She most recently worked 12 years as a collection technician for the American Red Cross in Cape Girardeau, retiring in October, 2019. After retirement, she worked part-time for Comfort Keepers. Sherri was proud to have received the Excellence Award for her knowledge of the Dean Vaughn Terminology System.
Sherri was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fruitland and a former member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson.
Loving survivors include her twin sons, Jason Pourney of St. Louis and Jarad (Sarah) Pourney and children Madelyn and Mitchell of Jackson; and four siblings, Kenneth (Michelle “Buffy”) Spooler, Kevin Spooler, Darryl (Sheila) Spooler, and Susan (Mike) Smith, all of Jackson; several nieces and nephews; and two dear friends, Vickie Webb and Cheri Sander, both of Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Anna Spooler.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m., Sunday, September 27, 2020, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Guests are invited to join the family for the Rosary at 6 p.m.
Dr. Rodney Pensel will officiate the funeral at 10 a.m., Monday, September 28, 2020, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. John’s United Church of Christ Cemetery in Fruitland.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. John’s United Church of Christ.
