Shirley Ann Brown, 79, of Scott City, passed away July 24, 2020, at her home.
She was born February 6, 1941, in Pocahontas, Missouri, to Alfred and Rosa Thauwald Koerberl. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pocahontas. After dating her high school sweetheart, Otis “Elmer” Brown, for more than four years, they were married April 26, 1959, just weeks before Shirley’s graduation from Jackson High School.
Shirley was a homemaker and truly loved taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed music and taught herself to play the piano and guitar. Other interests included reading, flower gardening, and sewing.
Shirley was a member of Illmo Baptist Church.
Loving survivors include her husband of 61 years, Elmer Brown of Scott City; four children, Rhonda Brown and Sandra Brown of Scott City, Teresa (Carl) Brawley of West Plains, Missouri, Rick Brown of Fruitland; a sister, Velma Hecht of St. Charles, Missouri; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Donald Koeberl.
Visitation is from 12 p.m. to service time, Monday, July 27, 2020, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral is at 2 p.m., Monday, July 27, 2020, at the funeral home, with the Revs. Patrick Tankersley and Chad Bles officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Pocahontas.
