Susan Elizabeth (Dunlap) Koch

Susan Elizabeth Koch, 72, of Altenburg, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at Jackson Manor in Jackson.

She was born Nov. 7, 1948, in Desloge, Missouri, daughter of Francis and Mildred Wagoner Dunlap. She and William "Bill" Koch were married Sept. 16, 1972, in Desloge. He survives.

Susan was a graduate of Desloge High School Class of 1966. She attended Southeast Missouri State University, earning a master's degree in teaching. Susan taught grades K-6 at the Meramec Valley R-3 School District in Pacific, Missouri, for 27 years, retiring in 1999. In 2005, she and William moved back to the family farm in Altenburg to enjoy their retirement together.

Susan was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells. She enjoyed playing the piano and was an instrumentalist for church. She especially enjoyed accompanying family and friends when they performed at church. Susan felt honored to be in the Southeast Missouri Golden Eagles Marching Band and had fond memories of performing with the band when it traveled to Florida to play for the Super Bowl. While her health still allowed her, she enjoyed getting out on the "greens" to play a round or two of golf.

Loving survivors include her husband of 48 years; two sons, William (Heather) Koch Jr. of Union, Missouri, and Daniel (Shelby) Koch of Egypt Mills; two brothers, James (Nancye) Dunlap of Fenton, Missouri, and Joseph (Jeanice) Dunlap of Rolla, Missouri.

Also surviving are three grandchildren, Lillian, Clara and Silas.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells.

Funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. Virgil Kelm officiating.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Lutheran Women's Missionary League of Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells or to Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in New Wells.
