Verna Drum, 88, died Saturday, December 3, 2022, at her home in Jackson.
She was born January 1, 1934, in Glen Allen, Missouri, to Glen and Vertis Sitze Mouser. She and Arnold "Jr." Drum were married October 24, 1952. They had been married only 37 years when Jr. passed away March 24, 1989.
Verna worked many years at Lenco in Jackson. She was a longtime, faithful member of First Baptist Church in Jackson, where she participated in various ministries, most recently serving on the bereavement committee.
Verna will be remembered by family and friends for many amazing talents, such as her incredible gardening skills and delicious cooking that always put smiles on faces and seconds on plates. When she got off work, she faithfully prepared a four course family meal, and still, she could be found sewing in the wee hours of the morning before another work day. She could comfort a baby and prepare a meal for a grieving family in no time. One of her favorite sayings was, "If you rest, you'll rust." Classic Verna!
