Violet Rosalia Sanders, age 85, of Perryville passed away Friday, January 24, 2020 at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born February 15, 1934 in Pocahontas, the daughter of Rudolph and Rosalie Kain Petzoldt. She and Melvin Sanders married June 14, 1969 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pocahontas. He preceded her in death April 24, 1982.
Violet was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church and became a member of Sargent’s Chapel Lutheran Church near Sedgewickville in 1969. Violet did babysitting in her home and quilting. She had a true passion for sewing and through the years had done many quilts for family and friends.
Loving survivors include a daughter Darlene Sanders of Perryville; a brother Raymond (Donna) Petzoldt of Fruitland; three stepchildren, Terry (Lora) Sanders of Perryville, Daryl (Wilma) Sanders of Jackson, and Linda (Delbert) Shrum of Perryville; a step son-in-law, Rodney (the late Glenda) Bishop; a sister-in-law, Jettie (the late Willman) Petzoldt of Jackson; eight grandchildren, Rodney (Christy) Bishop, Deana (Dennis) Carron, Terry (Liz) Sanders, Kevin (Jennifer) Sanders, Wayne (Mindy) Sanders, Laura (Larry) Motley, Jaycen Shrum, and Justin (Cheryl) Shrum.
Also surviving are 18 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, a step-daughter, Glenda Bishop, a step son Larry Sanders, three brothers, Norman, Marvin and Willman Petzoldt, three sisters, Melba Petzoldt, Mable Steffens, and Marjorie Lohmann, a grandson, Christopher Bishop, and a great granddaughter, Sarah Bishop.
Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Monday, January 27, 2020 at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center and after 9:30 am, Tuesday January 28th, at Sargent’s Chapel Lutheran Church.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 am at the church with Rev. Jerry Bailey officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Sargent’s Chapel Cemetery Fund.
