Wanda Wilfong, 85, of Burfordville passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born February 20, 1935, in Burfordville, daughter of Richard H. and Ada Jones Bowers. She was raised by and later adopted by Joe and Opal Brown Hahn. She and Lester “June” Wilfong were married September 9, 1956. He passed away on February 2, 2008.
Wanda was a graduate of Jackson High School. She worked at the former Kroger Egg Plant, Lenco, and as a beauty operator for many years. Wanda was a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson, where she and “June” taught 2nd grade Sunday School for 21 years.
Loving survivors include nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, her biological parents, her adoptive parents, a sister, Ruth Bowers Nitsch, a brother, Richard E. “Sonny” Bowers, and a half-brother, Ronnie Bowers.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 20, 2020 from 10 am until service time at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
Funeral service will follow at 11:30 am at the funeral home, with the Rev. Randy Riley officiating.
Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to First Baptist Church in Jackson.
